Caring For Parents - Online Broadcast

On April 2, 2008, PBS aired the broadcast “Caring for Parents”.  Unfortunately, the network will not be airing the broadcast again locally in the near future.  However, PBS has made this broadcast available to watch online.  I highly recommend that you take the opportunity to watch this informative broadcast which provides a very helpful insight and suggestions for people with aging parents in need of assistance.

The first 90-minutes of Caring for Your Parents underscores today’s struggle to keep parents at home, tensions between siblings, and the complexity of shifting caregiver roles through an intimate look at five American families.

Caring For Your Parents -- this is the title of a PBS documentary that your family may find very helpful.  This special film and its outreach campaign will offer real tools for families as they struggle to have “the conversation” with their aging parents or other elders.  Please help spread the word, and mark your calendars now so you can tune in on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Planning Guide For Older Adults

A recent AARP article points out that 30 million households are providing care for an adult over the age of 50 — and that number is expected to double over the next 25 years.  If you haven't started talking about a caregiving plan with your family, it's not too late.  Following is a link to "Prepare To Care", the AARP's planning guide for caregiving.    The guide provides a 5-step plan to walk you through the caregiving process, and helps you talk with your family about caregiving options.
